Prepare to Work Safely in the Construction Industry (Construction Induction Course)
Course Cost
$215 (GST exempt). Includes the $29.40 registration fee to WorkSafe.
Course Delivery/Duration
This course is delivered in a classroom setting with practical training. The course takes one day (6.5 hours) and can be taken at our Bunyip site or at your workplace (on request).
Course Description
The White Card Course is aimed at all workers carrying out construction work, including: self-employed persons, labourers, apprentices, trades-persons, supervisors and project managers. Participants will learn the basic principles of health and safety in the construction industry as well as information about preventing workplace injury and illness, workplace injury management and workers compensation.
Key Elements
- Health and safety legislative requirements of construction work.
- Construction hazards and risk control measures.
- Health and safety communication and reporting processes.
- Incident and emergency response procedures.
Pre-Requisites
Applicants must be at least 15 years of age. Applicants will be required to undertake pre-course reading to ensure an understanding of the learning content that will be reviewed in the class contact time. These materials will be supplied to the participants upon enrolment and payment of the course.
WorkSafe requires a valid form of photo ID such as a Victorian Drivers Licence to be provided to the trainer on the day of the course. Charges will apply if participant cannot start training due to not having ID.
Basic English skills are required.
Assessment Process
The course incorporates a variety of knowledge and theory based questionnaires and practical demonstration.
Outcome
Upon successful completion participants will be issued with the following nationally recognised Statement of Attainment: CPCWHS1001 Prepare to work safely in the construction industry. Particpants will be registered to WorkSafe to have their WorkSafe White Card issued.
What to Wear
All course participants are required to wear appropriate work attire, including closed-toe shoes and long trousers.
Morning Tea and Lunch
Participants are required to provide their own refreshments. Tea, coffee and water will be provided. There is a microwave available for use.
